  1. Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about Cocoa. If you
  2. can't find an answer to your question in this list, send it in
  3. to feedback and we'll try to give you a hand. We may even add
  4. your question to a future edition of the FAQ.

  8.      " I deleted my character by mistake. I spent a lot
  9.      of time making rules for it. Is there any way that I
  10.      can get it back?
  11.  
  12.      There are three ways to get it back:
  13.  
  14.        1. Run the clock backwards (using the "<<" button
  15.           on the control panel), and back up to a time
  16.           before the character was deleted.
  17.        2. In the "Piece" menu, select "Show Types".
  18.           Whenever you create a new kind of piece, a copy
  19.           of it is saved in the "Types" window. You can
  20.           drag any object in the "Types" window onto the
  21.           Board.
  22.        3. If you were lucky enough to save your world
  23.           before deleting the Piece, you can go back to
  24.           that saved world. First, Quit Cocoa. When it
  25.           asks if you want to save changes, say "No".
  26.           Then double-click on the saved world to start
  27.           it again. You will get the old version, before
  28.           the Piece was deleted.

  32.      " I'm trying to create a new rule. I clicked on the
  33.      "Movie Camera", and dropped it on my character. But
  34.      now, whenever I try to move the character, it just
  35.      makes a "boing" sound and won't move.?"

  37.      You have to make the "spotlight" bigger, so that it
  38.      includes the square you are going to move into. You
  39.      will see 4 "handles" around your character. Grab one
  40.      of those handles and drag it to make the spotlight
  41.      bigger.

  45.      " I closed the Control Panel and now I can't get it
  46.      back. What should I do?"

  48.      Under the "Window" menu, select "Show Controls".

  52.      " I'm using Variables in my Piece. It's frustrating
  53.      that I can't look at the both the Variables and the
  54.      Rules at the same time. Is there a way to see both
  55.      of them at the same time?"

  57.      Grab the dark black line between the "Rules" and
  58.      "Variables" and drag it to the middle of the window.

  62.      "My character was doing all sorts of things, but now
  63.      it doesn't move at all. What happened?"
  64.  
  65.      One possibility is that you accidentally made a rule
  66.      that does nothing. Double-click on the piece so that
  67.      you can see its list of rules. Look at the very
  68.      first rule in the list. If it is a rule with just a
  69.      single square before and after the arrow, that's
  70.      probably the problem. To delete the rule, click on
  71.      the Vacuum Cleaner (at the right end of the Control
  72.      Panel) and then drop the Vacuum Cleaner on the rule.
